2018 University of Toronto Youth Drone Training Camp

March-May 2018

2018 UofT Spring Training Camp for Canadian Qualification Competition

In order to help students to prepare for the 2nd International Youth Drone Tournament, iDAY, University of Toronto and Canada International Education Group hosted the training program which was conducted at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies (UTIAS) by graduate students from Centre for Aerial Robotics Research and Education (CARRE).

The instructors, who since their first year of undergraduate studies in University of Toronto Engineering Science, had been involved with the University of Toronto Aerospace Team where they had been designing and flying aircraft and unmanned aerial systems (UAVs, drones) for numerous Canadian and international competitions, guided the students.

Over the short 8 sessions, the students learned drone operational skills through simulation base training and hands on practice. They also learned the structure of drones and knowledge of drone assembly by taking a drone apart and put it back together and fly.

All students have opportunity to visit University of toronto Centre for Aerial Robotics Research and Education (CARRE) lab which is one of the most professional drone lab in Canada.

After the training and practice, most of them had very good operational skills and were ready for the Canadian qualification competition. Congratulations and good luck…
